The chemical faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology has launched a Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, equipped with analytical devices that allow obtaining unique information about the structure and nature of the tested compounds.
New equipment may be applied for the quality control of pharmaceutical and food products, research on the metabolism of psychoactive substances, or typing biomarkers of diseases and inflammations. It will be possible to obtain full information about sugars contained in food and pharmaceutical products, as well as to distinguish between compounds such as fatty acids or mono-, di- and trisaccharides.
The apparatus will be used to study the metabolic pathway of psychoactive substances in biological samples and to determine a large number of compounds with diverse physicochemical properties and biomarkers for disease or inflammation typing in biological material.
