Gdańsk University of Technology has become the leader of a consortium that will implement the project “INFOLIGHT – Cloud Lighting Platform for Smart Cities”. Its purpose is to create an Intelligent Lighting Platform for modern cities and companies dealing with lighting infrastructure management.

The base devices of the platform will be street lamps that will become terminals and points providing services for “smart cities”.

The lamps will collect and analyze in real time information on noise and pollution levels, enabling the creation of detailed maps of the city’s acoustic climate as well as air quality. They will also monitor traffic and road condition as well as local weather conditions. They will also become access points for vehicle information systems communicating with the road environment.
