The construction of the Sports Center of the Gdynia Maritime University has started. The cost of the investment with equipment is approximately PLN 55 million. The investment will be financed with own funds and the state budget, in the form of a special-purpose subsidy from the Ministry of Infrastructure. The center is to be ready in 2024.
The facility is designed to best suit the needs of the university. The space in the sports hall will be able to be adapted to various sports or recreational activities as needed. For example, it can be quickly divided into three independent volleyball courts, each of which meets the FIVB requirements.
The Center will also have a climbing wall, a fitness area and a sauna. This facility will allow the Gdynia Maritime University will be able to significantly expand and make the offer of sports and recreational activities for students and employees much more attractive. There are also plans to build a new student house, which will be a continuation of the construction of the Sports Center as the second stage of the investment.
