During the 140th session of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Warsaw, the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences Prof. Jerzy Duszyński awarded five researchers for outstanding achievements in 2019.
The scientific awards of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences were granted to:
Professor Janusz Reykowski, a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences for research achievements in the field of political psychology for his monograph “Disenchantment with democracy” published by Oxford University Press.
Dr Tomasz Sulej, Prof. of Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the outstanding research of the Triassic mammal-like reptiles, published in the prestigious scientific journal Science.
Professor Tadeusz Januszkiewicz, a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences for exceptional scientific results, in particular for the use of advanced methods of algebraic geometry allowing to obtain new information on classic issues, i.e. topology and theory of interpolation approximation.
Professor Tomasz Kapitaniak, a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Sciences for his contribution to the development of mechanics, especially through groundbreaking research on the synchronization of nonlinear systems and mechanisms of the formation of chimeric states.
Professor Edmund Przegaliński, a real member of the Polish Academy of Sciences for research into the mechanisms of depression and addiction.
