Engineer architect Volodymyr Melymuka from the College of Ecology and Management in Warsaw received an honorary distinction and a cash prize for the project “Museum of Modern Art and Teatr Rozmaitości” in the competition for the most interesting engineering diploma project. The competition was organized by the Association of Polish Architects in France – says Katarzyna Nowakowska from the marketing and international cooperation department of the Warsaw university.
The plot for the project is located in a very attractive place in the Polish capital, at the foot of the Palace of Culture and Science on the Plac Defilad. Location was one of the main design challenges of the work, because the building had to fit in the environment and at the same time arouse interest. In the vicinity of the plot there are many communication routes, including two metro lines, which was quite a huge problem. The author treated this as an asset and placed a car park and a bus stop in the basement of the building.
The work “Museum of Modern Art and Teatr Rozmaitości” was done under the supervision of Dr. Eng. Artur Bulawa-Gabryszewski.
