The diploma thesis of a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the main prize in the competition Concrete Architecture. Szymon Ciupiński designed a complex of cultural objects on a Venetian island, which for centuries served as a field hospital and later as a barracks.
The laureate proposed the construction of a new cinema hall the Museum of Cinematography, the Archives of Film Media, and above all the Venice Film School on the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio.
The main school building would frame the cloister of the former monastery and combine medieval buildings with modern construction techniques. He has also designed classrooms, computer laboratories for processing film materials as well as recording and processing sound rooms, lecture hall, projection rooms and a dormitory.
Ciupiński’s work was appreciated by the jury of the competition organized for over 20 years by the Faculty of Architecture of the Krakow University of Technology and the Cement Producers Association.
