The community inauguration of the academic year in Lublin made history. Five universities from the city including Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Medical University, Lublin University of Technology, University of Life Sciences and Catholic University of Lublin welcomed the new academic year together for the first time.

The event began with a Holy Mass at the Lublin Archcathedral celebrated by Archbishop Stanisław Budzik. Then, the rectors and members of the senates of the universities, scientists, employees, and students marched in a ceremonial procession through the streets of Lublin to the Lublin Philharmonic Hall.

“The inauguration of the academic year is an extremely solemn moment, and today history is happening before us. Five universities, whose academic achievements and contributions to the education of young people cannot be even measured, are jointly beginning a new academic year. Each of our universities is a recognisable brand in the scientific world”, said Professor Wojciech Załuska, rector of the Medical University of Lublin.
