Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek, Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek, and Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski attended the inauguration of the academic year 2022/2023 at the Mazovian Academy in Płock.
During the ceremony, Minister Czarnek handed over the Statute of the Mazovian Academy in Płock and the appointment of Prof. Dr. Maciej Słodki, Rector of the Mazovian Academy in Płock.
“I believe that historic Polish cities deserve academisation, because academisation is city-forming. It emphasises the city’s role in Polish history and its great potential for the future of the Polish state. We did not make sure beforehand that these cities had academisation. It is not true that if you focus on a few flagship universities and all the rest are to serve them, it will serve Polish science”, Minister Czarnek said to the academic community.
The Mazovian Academy in Plock was established in 1999 as the State Higher Vocational School in Plock. 5 August 2022 the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, signed the act on the establishment of the Mazovian Academy in Płock.
