The Polish Polar Station Hornsund in Spitsbergen, operated by the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, has received a test series of devices: sensors and gates operating on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, which will monitor the atmospheric conditions on the islands.
As reported by the daily newspaper “Puls Biznesu”, the devices were developed by Polish engineers from the BCAST company. They have been adapted to work in extreme conditions, even at temperatures down to minus 40 degrees Celsius. Their task is to collect and send data to the data network in a visualized form.
BCAST is an independent Polish telecommunications operator that deals with the broadcasting of radio and television programs. The company offers services based on its own broadcasting infrastructure.
