Researchers from the University of Wroclaw are introducing an innovative SARUAV system using photos obtained by drones to search for missing persons. The solution is already available for implementation in police, fire brigade, border services as well as mountain and water rescue units.
The system consists of two modules. The first module’s task is to designate the area where the missing person is likely to be present. Then a drone is sent to this area. The second module uses innovative algorithms created by Wrocław scientists. Its task is to automatically analyze aerial photos and search for objects resembling people.
The purpose of the system is to support exploration operations in open areas. Thanks to the work of Wrocław scientists, rescuers will reach faster missing persons, who are exposed to loss of life or health due to injuries, accidents, diseases and difficult weather conditions.
