The researchers of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals are developing a composite for the production of functional coatings with antiviral properties with the addition of ultrafine copper particles, copper oxides, silver and titanium oxides on the surfaces of sanitary fittings.
The aim of the scientists is to create a layer that will be stable over time, resistant to cleaning agents used for sanitary hygiene, and possible to implement on new and existing elements of sanitary fittings. The total cost of the project is over PLN 4.5 million, co-financing is over PLN 3.9 million.
The project is carried out by the consortium of Helioenergia. It will be based on the synthesis of metallic powders, the processes of mechanical and ultrasonic grinding of the metallic fraction, tests of composite viscosity in the liquid phase, application technique, and tests of adhesion, cohesion and antiviral activity of the finished layer.
