The Faculty Council of the PhD Students’ Government and the Department of Social Pedagogy at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at the University of Silesia invite participants to the interdisciplinary student and PhD conference “Contemporary man in the face of (not) favorable reality”.

The aim of the conference is a multi-faceted exchange of views and experiences regarding human functioning in the modern world from the perspective of challenges faced both by individuals as well as by collectives and institutions.

The proposed thematic panels include: the shape and functioning of the modern family; cultural determinants of human functioning; shadows and the glamor of elderly people in the modern world; man and health, illness and disability; problems of functioning of socially maladjusted individuals and the media – an opportunity or a threat to modern man?
