The Institute of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Economic and Social Sciences, Faculty of Management and Transport, University of Bielsko-Biała and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia invite participants to the ninth interdisciplinary scientific conference “Femininity and Masculinity in the Media”.

The conference, scheduled for November 5 at the campus of the Academy of Technology and Humanities, is devoted to the role of the media in the process of social definition and reconciliation of the meanings of such cultural constructs as femininity and masculinity. Mass media affect the normalized understanding of femininity and masculinity. They give not only a sense of what it is meant to be “feminine” or “masculine”, but also how people should behave in this regard, what to look for, what to desire.
