The invention of scientists of the Department of Plant Protection and Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk as well as from the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Metallurgy of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology was awarded in the competition “Eureka! DGP – we discover Polish inventions” of the journal Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
The scientists’ idea is a response to losses in the agricultural and horticultural sector resulting from the occurrence of pathogenic bacteria on plants. Reducing the number of infections can contribute to providing adequate food resources for an ever-growing human population.
The scientists have developed a plasma-activated solution that destroys pathogenic bacteria on crops and ornamental plants, thereby contributing to their protection. The invention presents the use of glow discharge generated at atmospheric pressure in contact with liquid – reports the University of Gdańsk.
