The INZNAK intelligent road signs system by scientists from the Department of Multimedia Systems of the Gdańsk University of Technology, led by Prof. Andrzej Czyżewski, was awarded in the Polish Product of the Future competition organized by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and the National Center for Research and Development.
The main task of the INZNAK system is to prevent traffic congestion and the resulting collisions of vehicles on motorways and expressways. Signs from the system communicate the speed calculated on the basis of the traffic they are examining and information obtained from a series of similar signs with variable message, located along the motorway section.
The recommended driving speed is displayed on a sign, equipped with an innovative, modular electronic display, and also transmitted wirelessly to vehicles equipped with a V2X interface (interface to the electronic communication system: vehicle-infrastructure).
