From 19 to 22 October, the 4th Congress of Researchers in the Foreign History of Poland is being held in Krakow, organised by the Polish Historical Association together with the Jagiellonian University, the Pedagogical University of Krakow, the Museum of Polish History, the Krakow Museum and the International Cultural Centre.
The opening lecture at this year’s congress was given by the British historian Timothy Garton Ash, who specialises in post-war European history. The historian presented the journey from post-war Europe to Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The 4th Congress of Foreign Researchers of Polish History is held periodically every 5 years. Historians, archaeologists, art historians, anthropologists, sociologists, literary scholars, linguists and cultural scientists have been invited to participate.
One panel will be devoted to institutions supporting scholars in the study of Polish history, with presentations from many important centres from Europe and the United States. The congress will also be accompanied by many other events promoting Krakow as a university city.
