The Jagiellonian University in Krakow took the place in the fourth hundred of world’s universities in the just published Academic Ranking of World Universities, also called the Shanghai List. This is the best result of all Polish universities.

The Shanghai List, which has been prepared by the Jiao Tong University in Shanghai since 2003, is considered one of the most prestigious university rankings in the world. The creators of the list choose the best 500 from 20 thousand universities. Another 500 forms the so-called reserve list.

In this year’s 17th ranking, American Harvard was recognized as the best university in the world. American Stanford was classified on the second and British Cambridge on the third place.

Considering the Polish universities, experts rated the highest of the Jagiellonian University. The Krakow university was promoted and this year was placed in a group of universities classified in the 301-400 range. In addition to the Jagiellonian University, the University of Warsaw also reached the top 500, which in comparison to the previous ranking took place in the fifth hundred.
