The winner of the Polish edition of the Queen Silvia Nursing Award was Dominika Rachwał, a student at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. Her idea to activate patients with dementia was appreciated.
The Queen Silvia Nursing Award is a scholarship aimed at nursing students and individuals in the process of specialising in nursing. The aim is to encourage them to seek innovative ideas that can help solve the most pressing health problems of Polish society.
Dominika works as a nurse at the University Hospital in Kraków on a day-to-day basis and is also studying MA nursing. Her project “Rediscover the world” aims to activate patients with dementia. The idea is to create polysensory panels that can be mounted on patients’ beds in the hospital. This would enable the stimulation of everyday activity skills, enabling seniors to explore the world anew and reduce negative emotions.
