The winners of the second grant programme “Talents of Tomorrow” run by the Empiria and Knowledge Foundation have been selected.
The laureates include students from the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Kraków: Nina Kurowska from the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology and Jan Konopka from the Faculty of Chemistry.
The initiative is aimed at young people aged 19-25 taking their first steps in science and medicine. The grant programme aims to inspire students and doctoral students to create innovations and carry out scientific research projects. The competition rewards the authors of the best science and research projects or inventions in the areas of science and medicine.
The winners received grants of PLN 25,000. Thanks to the support received, Nina Kurowska will realise the project ‘Synthetic biology in the fight against the Oder “golden alga” – the application of modern detection methods to detect Prymnesium parvum in environmental samples’. Jan Konopka received the grant for the project ‘Development of innovative PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitory covalent inhibitors for use in cancer immunotherapy’.
