Jan “Ptaszyn” Wróblewski, jazz musician, composer, arranger and conductor, received an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Music in Wrocław. The honorary doctor of the Wrocław academy is the author of film music, several hundred compositions, including classical concerts, and has recorded over 40 albums.
“In recognition of his outstanding artistic achievements in the field of jazz music, honouring his creative contribution and particular merits for the development of musical culture and artistic life, as well as for the promotion of Polish jazz music abroad, and also expressing profound respect for his long-standing efforts to promote the knowledge of jazz music, the title of doctor honoris causa is conferred on Maestro Jan Stanisław Wróblewski alias Ptaszyn at the Academy of Music in Wrocław”.
Wróblewski’s long-standing efforts to promote the knowledge of jazz music were also recognised – since 1970, “Ptaszyn” has hosted his own programme, Three Quarters of Jazz, on Polish Radio Programme 3.
