During his visit to the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Poland, Hoonmin Lim, met with the rector of the UJ, Prof. Jacek Popiel, and the UJ vice-chancellor for international cooperation, Prof. Dorota Malec. The programme of the visit included a lecture in English at the UJ’s Middle East and Far East Institute and a tour of the university’s oldest building, the Collegium Maius.
Prof. Dorota Malec emphasised that around 20-30 students from the Krakow university visit South Korea each year as part of student exchange programmes. In addition, in the past five years, nearly 300 scientific papers have been published jointly by scholars from the Jagiellonian University and South Korean academic and scientific centres.
Prof. Jacek Popiel addressed the issue of Korean studies, whereby education begun at the Jagiellonian University can be continued in the Republic of Korea.
Ambassador Hoonmin Lim reaffirmed that the institution under his leadership is determined to support all initiatives conducive to strengthening scientific cooperation between Korea and Poland.
