Krakow scientists working on a new carrier of oncology drugs

06.09.2018

Researchers from the Krakow University of Technology are working on intelligent carriers of oncological drugs. Special molecules based on zinc and titanium oxides will allow the drug to attack cancer cells more accurately without damaging healthy organs and tissues.

Researchers from the University of Technology are supported by scientists from two other Krakow universities: the Jagiellonian University and the University of Agriculture.

– Our goal is to create innovative carriers of therapeutic substances based on nanostructured metallic oxides, whose properties would allow their safe use in living organisms – said Dr. Eng. Jolanta Pulit-Prociak from the Krakow University of Technology, who manages the work of the research team.

The project is financed from the “Leader” program. The researchers received a grant from the National Center for Research and Development amounting to nearly PLN 1.2 million.
