Krakow universities: AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH), Jagiellonian University (UJ) and the Academy of Fine Arts (ASP), as well as the Krakow Stained Glass Museum, have signed a letter of intent concerning the establishment in the City of Krakow of a research centre for stained glass art, which is an important element of the world’s cultural heritage. The signatories of the letter declare their will to undertake actions and carry out works aiming at the establishment of the Stained Glass Art Museum.
The task of the Stained Glass Art Museum will be to exhibit the collections – both those currently held by the Stained Glass Museum and the Krakow Stained Glass Facility, as well as those acquired in connection with the establishment of this institution. In addition, the new centre will develop research and teaching activities with the support of Kraków’s universities.
The letter of intent was signed by the Jagiellonian University vice-chancellor Professor Jacek Popiel, the AGH University of Science and Technology vice-chancellor Professor Jerzy Lis and, representing the Academy of Fine Arts, Dr Robert Sowa, vice-chancellor for students and education, and Piotr Ostrowski, director of the Stained Glass Studio and Museum.
