The Horizon Europe framework programme competition has provided financial support for the project ‘Agroecological strategies for sustainable weed management in key European crops- AGROSUS’, led by the University of Vigo, Spain, with the University of Agriculture in Kraków (UAC) as one of the partners.
The aim of the project is to identify appropriate agroecological tools and strategies to prevent and manage weeds in suitable crop sites, both in conventional, organic and mixed farming, in eleven biogeographical regions of the European Union and associated countries, while reducing the environmental impact of synthetic herbicides and increasing the biodiversity of agroecosystems.
The project manager on the URK side is Dr Agnieszka Synowiec, Professor at the URK Faculty of Agriculture and Economics.
The research budget for the Kraków-based university is close to 1.78 million PLN.
