Krakow University of Technology (PK) will be the leader of the international research and development project NEXTLEVEL Parking, dedicated to changing the transport behaviour of Central European city dwellers. Polytechnic experts, led by Dr Maciej Michnej of the Department of Rail Vehicles, will implement it in cooperation with 12 national and international partners as part of the EU’s Interreg Central Europe programme. The total budget of the project is nearly EUR 2.9 million.
The key challenge of the project ‘NEXTLEVEL Parking: Pushing a parking management approach on the agendas to green mobility strategies in functional urban areas is to promote and ensure efficient, greener and more sustainable urban mobility.
“Our aim within the project is to change the transport behaviour of Central European city dwellers towards a reduction in the use of private cars. We assume the use of parking space management as a tool for shaping travel demand in urban functional areas,” says Dr Eng. Maciej Michnej.
