Krakow University of Technology installs thermal imaging cameras to examine the temperature of new patients

14.04.2020

Thermal imaging cameras of the Krakow University of Technology (PK) were installed at the Krakow Jan Paweł II Specialist Hospital, – at the newly launched initial medical assessment point for new patients. They are used to measure their temperature from a safe distance.

Special stands with thermal imaging cameras have been prepared in cooperation with hospital doctors and PK employees. Every day, thermal imaging cameras are used by scientists and PK students to conduct research and scientific expertise as well as education. Now, during the coronavirus pandemic, they will help medical staff to conduct the first contact with the patient.

Thanks to thermal cameras, the hospital can quickly and safely assess and find a patient with a fever, which is one of the most important symptoms of coronavirus infection.
