Cadets and civilian students from the Academy of Land Forces in Wrocław have been awarded prizes in a Ministry of National Defence competition for the design of air, land and sea drones. There were 23 entries submitted for the competition. The authors of the best projects received PLN 50,000 each.
The young scientists developed concepts and prepared drones in four categories: reconnaissance, combat, circulating munitions and support equipment. Among the operational and reconnaissance drones, the competition jury awarded two first prizes for the researchers from the Land Forces Academy and their concept of the ‘Kronos’ reconnaissance system.
Kronos is a micro-scale unmanned aerial vehicle, weighing around 700g, which travels at speeds of up to 100km/h. It can be used for patrolling and surveillance of an area. The device can be controlled by an operator, but it can also operate autonomously by planning a flight path.
