Thanks to the cooperation between the Perspektywy Educational Foundation and the Information Processing Centre – National Research Institute (OPI PIB), the latest “Women at technical universities” report was created.

In the academic year 2021/2022, almost 1 million 174,000 people studied at all universities in Poland, of which more than 800,000 studied at public universities. Women accounted for 77% of students at pedagogical universities, 73% of students at medical universities and only 35% of them studied at public technical universities.

Dr Anna Knapińska of OPI PIB reminds us that gender balance can be said to exist when the proportion of women or men is between 40 and 60%.

It is worth noting that certain faculties at public technical universities meet this criterion. These are: business analytics, social informatics, applied mathematics, biocybernetics and biomedical engineering, safety engineering, occupational safety engineering, nanotechnology and computational engineering. The biomedical engineering faculty boasts a particularly high proportion of women – they accounted for 64% of students in the 2021/2022 academic year.
