On 21 August 2023, the Ballroom of the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace on the University of Warsaw campus will host a lecture by the President of Portugal, Prof. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, entitled ‘The international situation, before, during and after’.

Prof. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is a law graduate. He obtained his doctorate in legal and political sciences in 1984, after which he became a professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, becoming director of the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences in 2004. He also lectured as Professor of Law at the Catholic University of Portugal.

Throughout his career, he has taught at various educational institutions in Portugal and abroad, as well as working with civic institutions and associations and being active in the social sector. 

He became President of the Portuguese Republic in 2016. After five years in office, he was elected for a second term.
