– The new law, the new Act on Science and Higher Education can bring significant and beneficial changes to universities. But it is also, especially in the first period of its validity, a huge challenge for them- said during the inauguration of the academic year at the University of Warsaw Prof. Marcin Pałys, rector of the university.
In his inaugural speech Prof. Pałys also talked about plans for a merger with the Warsaw Medical University. A letter of intent in this matter will be signed on October 16, 2018 by the universities.
The Rector of the University of Warsaw also recalled the successes of the Warsaw University including the signing of agreements with the Charles University in Prague, the University of Heidelberg and the Sorbonne University on the creation of an alliance of 4 research universities – 4EU European University Alliance.
