A book machine has been set up in front of the entrance to the Main Library of the West Pomeranian University of Technology. The self-service book lending facility is equipped with 42 lockers and is intended to facilitate the use of library resources by students who study and work at different hours. The machine operates 24 hours a day, all week long – including Sundays and public holidays.
The book machine is used for both the collection and return of books. Requested reading material awaits the user two working days after the electronic notification has been sent. The return of materials registered by the bookomat will be visible in the reader’s account after the contents of the box have been emptied and verified by a library employee.
The user of the book machine must have a library card or an electronic student, doctoral student or teacher card. The device is currently in the testing phase. The library plans to start full service for users on 1 October.
