The building of the Library of Science and Technology (Bibliotech) of Wrocław University of Science and Technology has won the main prize in the “Large Public Facility” category of the Architectural and Urbanism Competition “Accessibility Leader”. 

The building draws attention to its well-thought-out navigation: there is tactile information in the form of a tiflomap, visual information – boards with a list of rooms (bilingual, enriched with graphic signs in the form of pictograms) and directional signs and voice information. The area around the building, including the entrance zone, is free of urban and architectural barriers.

The building also houses the ICT Laboratory, a space that combines a 3D printing workshop (printing of tiflomaps and other aids for the visually impaired), relief printing – including texts in Braille – and a lending library of equipment facilitating learning for visually impaired people, e.g. Braille rulers, enlargers and text readers.
