In October, the European Center of Excellence in Exascale Computing TREX started its activity. One of the partners of the Center is the Lodz University of Technology.

The scientists of the Institute of Physics of the Lodz University of Technology are involved in the development of quantum simulation programs that will be used for emerging computers capable of achieving the computing power of 1 exaflops, i.e. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 operations per second.

The TREX Center of Excellence participated by the universities and research institutes from six European countries, is funded under the Horizon 2020 program. The project will last 36 months. Its total budget is EUR 5 million.
