“Students from the Technical University of Lodz (PŁ) have achieved victory in the final of the International Small Wind Turbine Contest. The innovative wind turbine developed in the GUST project won first place, beating teams from Canada, the Netherlands, Egypt or Denmark. In addition, the PŁ construction achieved the best result in the category of highest annual energy production (AEP)”, informed Dr Ewa Chojnacka, a PŁ spokeswoman.
GUST (Generative Urban Small Turbine) is a student project carried out by members of the Student Scientific Club of Energy Scientists (SKNE) operating at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the PŁ. An interdisciplinary group of students is working on it.
The GUST design proved to be unparalleled in terms of efficiency. The winning turbine achieved its highest efficiency ever, surpassing all the prototypes presented in the finals.
