Dr Anna Karnkowska, Dr Maria Górna, Dr hab. Barbara Uszczyńska-Ratajczak, Marika Turek, Dr Aleksandra Kopacz and Adrianna Musiał have become Polish laureates of the 20th L’Oréal-UNESCO Program for Women and Science.
In the habilitation category, three scientists received scholarships of 35 thousand PLN: Dr Anna Karnkowska from the University of Warsaw (UW), who tries to determine the role of eukaryotic microorganisms in aquatic ecosystems in her ecological research; Dr Maria Górna, a graduate of the University of Warsaw, who presented her doctorate at the University of Cambridge and specializes in molecular biology, and Dr Barbara Uszczyńska-Ratajczak, a graduate of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, who obtained her doctorate from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Two scholarships of PLN 30,000 were awarded in the doctoral category to Marika Turek from the University of Humanities and Natural Sciences in Częstochowa and Dr Aleksandra Kopacz from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
In the master’s category, a scholarship of PLN 20,000 PLN was received by Adrianna Musiał from the Jagiellonian University.
