An American Centre for Education and Business – the American Corner – has been established at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. The UMCS signed an agreement to this effect with the Press and Cultural Affairs Section (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States of America in Poland.

According to the agreement, the UMCS will ensure the maintenance and running of the Centre, and the implementation of this project will be supported in terms of programme and content by the American side. The unit will be based at the Chatka Żaka Academic Centre for Culture and Media of the UMCS.

The tasks of the American Centre for Education and Business – American Corner will include organising a variety of educational, cultural and business events, such as workshops, lectures, exhibitions, concerts, debates and conversations in English; providing reliable information about the history, government, society and values of the United States; disseminating materials about programmes and scholarships offered by the US government; providing free access to the book collection and US e-Library databases at the unit’s premises.
