Rector and Senate of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin on June 26, 2019 will award Prof. Michał Śliwa – an outstanding political scientist and historian, specializing in the history and ideas of political doctrines the title of doctor honoris causa UMCS.
Professor Michał Śliwa is one of the most valued figures in the academic environment of social sciences in Poland and abroad. He made a significant contribution to the development of the history of political science. He is an outstanding historian of ideas, author of the semantics of the history of ideologies and political doctrines in Poland and Germany.
He is the author of 300 publications, including over 20 monographs and many biographies of the politicians, including Ignacy Daszyński, Mieczysław Niedziałkowski, Jan W. Machajski, Feliks Perl and Jan Strzelecki. Until 2016, he held the position of the rector of the Pedagogical University National Education Commission in Krakow.
