In Lublin, until September 24, 2019, the Congress of Eastern European Initiatives will be held by the Center for Eastern Europe and the Faculty of Political Sciences at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS), the Institute of Central Europe and the Institute of Political Sciences and International Affairs of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL).
This year’s VIII Congress is dedicated to unique events and their role in our modern reality.
The events include the 450th anniversary of the conclusion of the Polish-Lithuanian Union, known as the Lublin Union, the 15th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union, the 20th anniversary of NATO membership and the 30th anniversary of democratic changes in the region of Central Europe.
This is an excellent starting point for discussions about the future of modern Europe, its identity, challenges to be faced and the need for deeper integration and cooperation.
Panels devoted to economic relations, regional partnerships, transnational and regional cooperation are also an important element of the Congress.
