The Maritime Institute of Gdynia Maritime University became the leader of the project “Liquefied bio-gas as a driving force for the development and use of green energy technology (Liquid Energy). Partners from Poland, Germany and Lithuania participate in the project under the South Baltic Interreg Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020.
As part of the international project, in 2022 a mobile refueling station for liquefied biogas (bio-LNG) or natural gas (LNG) will be built in the Tri-City. Another project’s assumption is the conversion of the engine of a small watercraft into liquefied methane derived from natural gas.
The project will also develop a system for supplying electricity and / or heat in office buildings and smaller production plants. It will be based on a fuel cell using bio-LNG.
The fourth investment is the construction of an innovative fuel station for a bio-LNG-powered locomotive carried out by the Science and Technology Park in Klaipeda.
