The Medical University of Silesia was ranked 131st in the latest Web of Universities ranking among 2,730 evaluated institutions in the group of Central and Eastern European countries. In the world ranking, the university was ranked 1973. 

Webometrics is the largest global ranking that assesses the performance of universities and researchers based on publications in professional journals and on promotion in other sources, including the Internet. The ranking of universities is based on an overall assessment of their activities. The ranking therefore assesses not only formal activities, related to publishing in scientific e-journals or repositories, but also informal scientific communication.

The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice consistently strives to improve both the quality of education and scientific research, which translates, among other things, into an increasing reputation and recognition in the international arena.
