04.10.2021

The Medical University of Silesia (SUM) is the first medical university in Poland to offer a broad and coordinated nutritional education program. From the new academic year, the university will offer specialist nutrition classes.

– Problems with nutritional support in Poland are at their source. Therefore, together with the Nutricia Foundation, from the new academic year we are introducing a coordinated block of classes in specialized nutrition at SUM – says Prof. Jerzy Stojko, vice-rector for studies and students of the Medical University of Silesia.

The acquired knowledge will allow students to recognize the types of malnutrition, identify its causes and consequences, as well as diagnose and monitor the condition of a patient with malnutrition. The program focuses on practical classes that will allow students to practice the implementation of various methods of enteral nutrition supply on special phantoms.
