The Medical University of Wrocław has joined the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), a European coalition aiming to improve the research assessment system. 

Joining the coalition involves signing the ‘Agreement on reforming research assessment’. This document identifies ten principles, including the promotion of quality and the impact of research on scientific development, with a reduction in the use of quantitative indicators.

At present, CoARA brings together more than 300 institutions from around 40 European countries and includes universities, research institutes and centres, scientific associations and societies, public and private research funding bodies and non-profit organisations involved in research assessment. Over the next five years, the coalition is planning to reform the system for evaluating research and the achievements of researchers.
