The Medical University of Wrocław became one of the partners of the Medical Research Agency and Ministry of Health project “Research on a vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and support for research on the search for effective therapy”.
Researchers, experts in the field of clinical research and infectious disease specialists from the Medical University of Wroclaw, will lead the work on the use of chloroquine (an anti-malarial drug) in patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection at an early stage of the disease with mild symptoms to prevent severe pulmonary complications.
Project partners include the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Biotechnology and Antibiotics together with the team of Prof. Marcin Drąg from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the National Institute of Oncology in consortium with the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Medical University of Warsaw.
