The Medical University of Wrocław is the best Polish medical university, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Only nine Polish universities were included in the list. The Wrocław university is among them for the third time in a row.

‘This is a great success and a confirmation of our position not only in Poland. Let us not forget that the world of science favours interdisciplinarity, which is inevitably easier at larger universities that have representatives of many fields and disciplines in their portfolios. We are a homogenous university, so such a high position in Poland makes us all the more happy’, says the rector, Prof. Piotr Ponikowski.

The ranking is based on the quality of education, scientific staff, research results and productivity per employee. Only universities which meet specific requirements, such as having Nobel Prize winners, Fields Medal winners or the most frequently cited scientists among their staff or graduates, are ranked in the ranking.
