Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek attended the inauguration of the 2022/2023 academic year at the branch of the Academy of Physical Education (AWF) in Biała Podlaska. 

During the ceremony, Minister Czarnek thanked the joint project titled “PE with AWF – Active return of students to school after the pandemic” and announced the continuation of the programme and changes in the evaluation of the quality of academic activities.

“It is necessary to invest in improving the physical fitness of children and young people, and who can do this better than the outstanding specialists from the Academies of Physical Education across Poland”, he said. He also congratulated the university authorities on the development of the academic infrastructure.

“The Academy of Physical Education branch in Biała Podlaska is one of the oldest academic campuses not only in Poland, but also in Europe”, said Minister Czarnek.

The Biała Podlaska branch of the Academy of Physical Education was established on the basis of the Higher Teacher Training College of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, which in 1970 was transformed into a branch of the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education. The university inaugurated its activities in the year 1970/1971.
