31 academic teachers received awards from the Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski for significant achievements in the field of scientific, didactic, implementation and organizational activities, as well as for their overall academic achievements.

Every year, the Minister of Health awards prizes to outstanding academic teachers. This time they were handed to 31 people. Interestingly, in each of the five categories there was a representative of the Medical University of Bialystok. The remaining winners were from medical universities of Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Warsaw, Szczecin, Katowice and Wrocław.

One of those awarded scholars for significant achievements in the field of scientific activity is Prof. Krzysztof Giannopoulos, head of the Department of Experimental Hematooncology at the Medical University of Lublin, who is currently implementing a grant of over PLN 3 million from the National Science Center for investigating the impact of bacterial microflora on the development of chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
