The University of Białystok (UwB) has received PLN 50 million in funding from the Ministry of Education and Science for the construction of a new Social Sciences building, which will be built on the UwB campus. The symbolic cheque handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin and Deputy Minister of Education and Science Dariusz Piontkowski.
Deputy Minister Piontkowski said that in order to conduct scientific research, a modern teaching base is needed. The Ministry of Education and Science is interested in ensuring that not only the most well-known Polish universities develop, but also those which until recently were treated as small, provincial, match both the level of teaching and the teaching basis.
The estimated cost of constructing the building is around PLN 65 million. It is expected to house the Faculty of Economics and Finance, the Institute of Management, the Institute of Sociology and the Faculty of International Relations, which is in the process of being established. According to the university, the facility will be used by around two thousand students and around 140 employees.
