The Institute of Public Affairs has conducted research on the presence of Ukrainian students in Poland. It follows that young people from Ukraine are attracted to study in Poland by good career prospects and lower costs of living than in other countries.
In the 2012/2013 academic year, 9,747 students from Ukraine studied at Polish universities, and in 2013/2014 this number increased to 15,123 people. According to data for the academic year 2016/2017, 35.584 students from Ukraine already studied in Poland.
According to the Institute of Public Affairs, the survey showed that the reasons for which young people from Ukraine decide to come to Poland are primarily: lower costs of living comparing to other countries (indicated by 39% of respondents), the prospect of studying without fees or with a reduction in fees (29%), easy access to university (28%), the prospect of finding a job in an area consistent with education (22%) and the quality of education at a given faculty or university (22% each) .
