Dr John Selby from the International Centre for Quantum Theory at the University of Gdansk, together with an international team, is looking for answers to the question of what makes quantum computers faster than classical computers. The British scientist will coordinate the project ‘ResourceQ – Unifying and optimising quantum resources.
‘With this project, we want to deepen our understanding of quantum computers and what makes them faster than their classical counterparts. “This knowledge will bring us closer to creating practical industrial applications for such devices’, said Dr Selby.
The academic partner of the initiative is the German Institute for Theoretical Physics at Leibniz University Hannover, the industrial partner is the French company Quandela and the industrial advisor to help create practical applications is the German company TWT Science & Innovation. Funding of more than €800,000 comes from the QuantERA Call 2023 programme.
