The National Science Center (NCN) has announced the results of the fifth SONATINA competition. Researchers who have recently received a doctoral degree will receive almost PLN 34 million for research and internships at prestigious foreign centers.
Within the competition, young researchers submitted 160 applications for a total of over PLN 100 million. The NCN experts awarded 52 applications with funding of almost PLN 34 million, which means that the success rate was 32.5%. The awarded grants will cover the costs of full-time employment of the competition winners in Polish research units, implementation of basic and applied research, and 3 to 6-month internships abroad.
63 applications were submitted within the humanities, art and social sciences. 20 applications were selected and received financing worth over PLN 10.6 million. In science and technology, 61 project proposals were submitted, with 20 applications receiving grants for over PLN 12.5 million. Within the life sciences, the NCN received 36 applications, and it awarded 12 with the amount over PLN 10.7 million.
